This policy explains what information the Chaos Chess app (“Chaos Chess”, “we”, “us”) and this website collect, why, and your choices. It applies to the mobile app and its online services. If you play offline as a guest, no personal data is collected.
Information We Collect
When you create an online account or use online features, we collect:
- Email address — to create and secure your account and sign you in (via an email code or Google sign-in).
- Display name / username — shown to other players on leaderboards, in matches, and in chat.
- Profile picture (avatar) — only if you choose to set one. Optional.
- Gameplay data — match results, rating/Elo, statistics and saved replays, to run ranked play, leaderboards, achievements and your match history.
- Chat messages and friends list — to provide in-game chat (global, league, direct and match/spectator rooms) and the friends feature. Optional.
- Purchase status — if you subscribe to premium. Payments are processed by Google Play; we receive purchase/entitlement status, not your card details.
On this website, we may also collect your email address if you join the playtest or newsletter list.
We do not collect your location or contacts, we use no advertising identifiers, and the app contains no advertising.
How We Use Information
Solely to provide and operate the game and website: accounts and sign-in, online matchmaking and ranked play, leaderboards, achievements, social features (friends and chat), premium entitlements, support, and development/launch updates for newsletter subscribers. We do not sell your data and do not use it for third-party advertising or profiling.
Service Providers
We use trusted providers that process data only on our behalf: Supabase (account, database and realtime hosting), Google (optional Google sign-in, and Google Play for purchases), RevenueCat (subscription entitlements), and Cloudflare (content delivery and email routing).
Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your account data while your account exists. You can request access to, or deletion of, your account and associated data at any time by emailing [email protected]. Deleting your account removes your profile, stats, replays, friends and chat authored by you.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored by our hosting provider with access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Chaos Chess is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
